Fisherman's Dream

This piece was inspired by a photo of nylon stockings under a microscope. The metaphors in Fisherman’s Dream can be lighthearted, serious, or both— viewers get to make their choice how they want to see the piece. As I was working on the piece, I got to thinking about some of the serious implications, such as the ways people sometimes make their fellow beings suffer because they choose to not be completely aware of the effects of their actions. Fish, worms, lobsters, humans (sometimes metaphorically, sometimes not so metaphorically), and so forth are sometimes stacked on top of each other until people are ready to use them. Then on the other hand, we could ignore all of that and choose to think about the part involving the fisherman dreaming about some of his favorite things instead….
